Another demonstration in solidarity with the prisoners in Genoa took place in Hamburg today. It was the third action in four days. All over Germany, there have been more than 30 actions, demonstrations and protests so far.

Hundreds of people met in front of the Social Centre Rote Flora in the late afternoon and started a powerful demonstration towards the city centre. They wanted to show both their solidarity with the prisoners and hospitalised, and their anger about police brutality. Large numbers of riot police, assisted by barricades of police vehicles and water cannons, prevented them from reaching the city centre. Despite several attempts, police lines could not be broken. However, the demonstration was an impressive proof that people do not forget those in prisons and hospitals. The fight for a world without exploitation and domination cannot be killed!

When protests against police brutality are met with police brutality, the mask of 'democracy' is removed, and despotism is exposed. Governments can no longer claim to be defending democratic principles, when brute force is used to do so. Democracy means the will of the common people, the vast majority of whom don't want Star Wars, Globalisastion, GMO's, privatisation, 'Free Trade' exploitation of the environment etc. We must remind our 'Leaders' who have clearly forgotten what Democracy means.
