G8 broken pledges on debt releif

Whatever promises the G8 make in Genoa to get the media off their back, it has to be remembered that in 1999, at the Cologne Summit, G7 leaders promised debt relief of $100 billion.(out of the $214bn "owed")
To date, Western "leaders" have only ever granted $13.2bn of debt relief, and only $2.6bn since Cologne.
And still some people ask why protest?
