Blair "Lets go out for a bite and talk about this"

za | 21.07.2001 17:09

Speaking on BBC radio Tony Blair, owner of many major UK media sources seemed to turn his anger on it's head, "It's their (the media's) fault, they're turning the world upside down, all the focus is on the protests, we don't want to meet like this locked away but would prefer to be in the taverna down the road talking to the people". I know a nice little italian Tony, when can you make it?

They always 'use' Tony as their spokesman, because he is the pleasant face of Despotism. New Labour, new liars, new conmen, new theives, new oppressors, new fascists!

Tony Blair media tycoon shocker

errr.... as far as I am aware Tony Blair doesn't own any part of the media. it has long been a problem for the Labour party that the bulk of the UK newspapers have supported the Tories despite the fact that most of those reading them vote Labour.
Blair deserves criticism but let's try and keep some accuracy in here.

It's humour ....doesn't have to be acurate

but to me, never mind what happened in the past, he does now "own" many of the major organs subsequent to is "coup d'état" on the Labour party.
The latter description is not mine but Roy Hattersley's, not well known for his untamed radicalism in the 1980s and 1990s, but let's carry on debating this is good for our souls...
