Vote Nobody goes back to School

The Boswells College Vote Nobody Campaign | 21.07.2001 15:40

The Vote Nobody campaign from the general election gets ripped of by a bunch of students.

College president elections are boringly repetitive. People put up a load of posters proclaiming why they should become college president, they make speeches on the same thing and then people go off and ignore all of that and vote for the person they like best.

Things this year were slightly different. Posters began appearingn around the college ans school encouraging people to "Vote Nobody" reminding them that "Nobody cares" and that "Nobody will make a difference". Others insisted that "Voting only encouraging them" and claimed "Nobody is your black candidate".

Unfortunately some people miss understood the campaign thinking it was acampaign for people to vote for one of the people running the campaign. The biggest setback to the Vote Nobody campaign came on election day when somebody totally unaffiliated to the campaign actually tried to run as Nobody, which served to kill off the whole idea.

And in the general election, a group of people actually ran as "Nun of the above" and dressed up as nuns.

Yippie suggestions

http://www.infoshop.org/kidz/stopschool.html has a list of Yippie suggestions of ways to make school life more interesting - some are lame, others are what I would call 'a bit extreme', but there is plenty of inspiration.
Loads of school kids enjoy messing about, - it is more difficult to get them to think past that and become more purposeful. I wish you luck.
