Reports just in are that the Globalise Resistance train which was cancelled yesterday by the SNCF, has just been given the go ahead after pressure had been applied by the French Rail Trade Unions.

Railway company SCNF was told that they must cancel the train following a high level meeting between the Italian authorities and Jean-Claude Gayssot, the French Minister of Transport. The train had been paid for and was perfectly legal.

However the train is now expected in Genoa on Thursday night and there are now spaces available on the train as some who had tickets decided to find alternative transport.

The train is on, and emptier than realised. If you can get to Dover b4 9am tommorrow you may get a place.

I repeat, IT IS ON!!!!!!!!!

All people with tickets will have a place, obviously

We owe gratitude to the French Rail Workers Union and Globalise Resistance in Britain and Genoa for putting enough pressure on the authorities for them to cave in!!

Best of luck for the trip - raise hell and try not to get arrested or beaten up by the fascist police.

many radicals would concur that 'globalise resistance' is getting to be a pretty big problem for the movement. it was concocted as a 'foil', a counter- organization to increase the influence of the dread SWP on a movement that really had no time for their anti- radical, pro- labour party tendencies. all the more sad is that the undoubted number of 'sincere' members in the GR are being used to build the careers of guy 'disguise' taylor and his type (of which there are rather too many)

why has the question "are globalise resistance funded by or just sponsored by the SWP ?" asked yesterday been removed from this page?
