Train Cancelled

17.07.2001 15:13

"In an act of massive political censorship SNCF has, under orders from the French government, cancelled the British Globalise Resistance train to Genoa. GR are trying to get coaches from Calais. If people want to ensure they get there either try & book flights (www.ryanair.com www.buzzaway.com www.gofly.com ) or club together & drive. If asked don't say you are going to Genoa but that you are going on holiday. At present Go have flights for around ?120-130 return to Venice. Buzz fly to Milan, Go to Venice & Bologna and Ryan to lots of cities.

*** As far as I know the London coaches are still on. Please do not phone GR to check - they will be snowed under right now. I will send an update as soon as I get any more information..."

Just got this from GR via an swp member, a reliable source in this case ;)

Can't get to Genoa? Come to Campsfield instea

17.07.2001 15:59

If people can't get to Genoa in time for the actions in Italy, perhaps they should consider the actions against the Campsfield House immigrant detention centre.

dates: camp opens wednesday 18th (night), and runs to end of 21st July. Mass actions on 21 July including much white overalls fun, plus a CRITICAL MASS, CARNIVAL AGAINST CAMPSFIELD to demonstrate our diversity and creativity (bring your drums, horns and whistles to make some noise!)
AND THE SIEGE OF CAMPSFIELD plus ANARCHIST TRAVELLING CIRCUS.

A coalition including the WOMBLES, Earth First! and refugee community groups are staging a four day "no borders" camp outside campsfield house (6 miles from Oxford) in sympathy with the actions in Genoa, for the liberation of humanity against neo-liberalism and racism.

Oxford is well-served by train and coach connections interchanging at the rail station. Coaches to Oxford leave London Victoria coach station every 15 minutes, costing about £8. Nearest tube: Victoria, then 5 mins walk to coach station.

Campsfield House is about 6 miles from Oxford city centre. It can be reached by bus (numbers 2B, 2C or 2D) from the main Oxford rail station: ask for Campsfield House or Langford Lane. This bus can also be caught outside Debenhams in the city centre. When you get there follow the banners.

By road: from London - M40 motorway from London, taking exit 9 onto A34 towards Kidlington. Join A44 northbound towards Woodstock. Turn right for Oxford Airport and right again for Campsfield House.
From Oxford - leave the ring road for the A44. Turn right for Oxford Airport and right again for Campsfield.

See the web site at  http://www.wombleaction.mrnice.net for full camp details.

the struggle continues - la luche sigue!
