This mornings Italian papers report big queues on most italian land borders 20km on one of the austrian borders.
there were at least 40 extra cops at the swiss border crossing at chiasso. there is extremely heavy holiday traffic,the cops are checking passports but not yet searching many vehicles .it would not be physically possible to search more than a very small percentage due to the intense traffic.
I would suggest that anyone planning on entering Italy dress and act like tourists , shorts, T shirts and we are on holiday attitudes should get them through. banners and other material likely to link them to genova/G8 should be well conceled, it's bloody hot down here, hanging around on border crossings will not be very pleasant at all !!!
