Walk for the World
From Faslane to Fylingdales
CND
CND Vice-President Bruce Kent and CND Chair Dave Knight will be undertaking a 300 mile fundraising walk from Faslane on Monday 16th July to Fylingdales on 4th August.
They will be drawing attention to the two lost issues of the recent General Election campaign - Trident and Missile Defence - by speaking at evening meetings, attending civic receptions and talking to local media along the route.
The route will pass through Dumbarton, Clydebank, Bathgate, Edinburgh, Galashiels, Langholm, Carlisle, Haltwhistle, Newcastle, Durham, Hartlepool, Guisborough and Whitby where there will be a rally and music in the town centre.
"Missile Defence is clearly going to be a big issue for the new Labour Government with gathering opposition in Parliament, from the Trade Unions and general public" said Dave Knight, "and CND will be at the forefront with our Stop Star Wars and Scrap Trident campaigns."
Bruce is now in training around Finsbury Park following a successful operation for prostate cancer. Dave, who is not seeking re-election in September after 5 years as CND Chair, will be continuing the campaign against the US use of Fylingdales from his home in the Yorkshire Dales.
