Grim reaper visits gunrunner

Hugh Warwick | 03.07.2001 16:55

Mr Sayed Naqvi is a gunrunner working out of an office near North Acton tube station. A small group of campaigners visited him from the International Action Network on Small Arms to present a letter asking him to stop his deadly trade. He forced the door shut and refused to answer questions - even when the grim reaper came to visit!

Was he running guns to political movements or to street gangs, there is a big difference. You did'nt clarify or elaborate in your article. I f he was running guns to revolutionaries then he was doing a good thing, and if it was the other than its not so good.

the reality of a gunrunner

Mr Naqvi was involved in running guns to both sides of the conflict in Sierra Leone, to the Taleban and to combatants in Eritrea and the Democratic Republic of Congo. He is now a director of a company called Aeroplanet. There maybe some romantic vision of gunrunning to rebels - but the reality of his activities is that children are being killed and orphaned for his profit. And whatever the cause - over 200 000 children and young people are killed each year by the small arms that the likes of Naqvi export. Now that is romantic.

I realize that you are a revolutionary living in the comfort of Britian. Enjoying the splendors of what the most evil empire in the history of planet earh was able to steal from the rest oif the world. Now that the staus quo has been set, by violence, you wish for the niggers of the world to try to get justice by dressing up in costumes and hitting people in the face with pies. Well, the gentelman may have neen a crook, but some people need weapons and ne provides a useful service. Remmenber, it is impossible to keep gus out of the hands of people who really want them.

This article is an unjustified joke. Unless you can find sufficient evidence such as contracts or hacked e-mails then I don't see any reason why this to be true. I know Mr. Naqvi personally and he has no link whatsoever with the Taliban. The Taliban are a Wahabi sect of Islam while as Mr. Naqvi is of the Shia sect of Islam, both sects of which collide. I'm sure if his name wasn't Mr. Naqvi, but rather Mr. Smith, you wouldn't be so quick to draw up the Taliban link.

I'm sure other airlines also do it... how about we see some of those articles.
