La-Di-Dah:the day we dared to play and not pay!

Here's an account from anarquist of the autonomous queer presence on the Pride March in London last Saturday June 30, the Temporary autonomous Zone we established outside the enclosed Madi Gradi corporate festival and the fabulous squat party that followed...

A message to all, a short tale of the day......the day we played and played...

First to all you frustrated folx out there that couldn't find us a big SORRY! a mixture of dastardly forces and natural caution led to a high level of confusion for some, lets just say shit happens.

a recap on the day...
We met in Green Park where pervs of all description were dancing or chilling out and as the storm clouds grew and people painted their naked bodies we got set to hit the march. With the klazma band up front and the flag group (a terrifying group of anarcho-lingerie black flag wavers) behind them a motley crew of freaks paraded. Although somewhat broken up by the vagaries and random movements of the march we fanned out with the international union of sexworkers bringing up the rear with the samba band (the paid and not so paid variety) who indeed were making a very merry ruckus.

With banners stating "pervert power", "pride not profit", "anarquist - anarcho-queers", "sex workers unite!" about 500 or more folx frolicked about as the sun shone out for us. The verbally violent riot control ie chief steward and some ofhis hand picked cronies didn't dampen our day and as we distributed the most excellent publication 'The Pink Pauper' (a slight quip at the somewhat manipulating and might i say unrepresentative gay "community" rag the Pink Paper) we were
greeted with a torrent of excited fervor as a gratified crowd of folx screamed it was about time we had something interesting to read!

.....and to the park where we met and paraded up to our "FREE SPACE" to a fabulous free vegan meal courtesy of 'Food Not Bombs!'. there in the shade a group of gorgeous people sat making rubber whips n sex toys while others gathered around our information tent. some chilled out in the sun while the more energetic danced away to the sounds of Megabitch with their brilliant solar powered 12v rig! around 500 people found us in the end, which was amazing due to out secluded spot and entered our "glitter not litter" space or indeed our garden of flowers ...increasing all the time as the kidz space churned out more and more colourful, glittery and shimmering flowers made from, would you believe it - recycled material?!

In the evening a sexy party evolved with some difficulties with the council, however it still continued on its heady path. there the bands rocked us while the djs worked us. with 3/400 folx freaking out in a atmosphere of fun, fantasy n fabulousness. We amused ourselves by chilling out in the courtyard and having sex in the dark room...or wherever. This all wound up by eight am, a respectable time to go have sunday breakfast!

thanx to all who put this together or took part in any shape or form...its was inspiring and best of all it was free n queer!

We'll be having an open meeting on Sunday 15th of July -
e-mail us for venue and other details or call us on the phone number above and we'll get back to you...

A quick message from one of the bands. The squat party was a real inspiration and a feat of imaginative ingenuity. Thanks to everyone who put on this amazing event. There was a real sense of community to this event. It was brilliant to perform at such a positive event.
