I just hope that all the people that are opposed to Huntingdon don't start seeing the bank as a legitimate target for direct action - such a lovely building!
Heh no the Queen doesn't own the Bank Of England, except in the way that technically as Monarch she semi-legally owns the whole country as defined in her powers. The Bank Of England is independent and as such owns itself.
From the Bank Of England web site:
"Sometimes known as the 'Old Lady' of Threadneedle Street, the Bank was founded in 1694, nationalised in 1946, and gained operational independence in 1997"
Not a very useful comment perhaps but my point is that some people, somewhere, make these decisions. I don't know whether animal 'experimentation', (makes me feel sick to think about it), actually helps cancer patients etc. or, if it does, is the degree to which patients are helped sufficient to justify what happens in places like Huntingdon 'Life' Sciences?
I suspect not, although I do know that the companies backing this kind of research are amongst the most cruel, cynical, narrow minded and inhuman around. In the absence, arguably, of concrete, empirical evidence, I would stake my life that the world would be a better place if HLS and their ilk did not exist.
That the bank of England should provide such an establishment with any kind of support whatsoever is deranged. As an Englishman, I am deeply troubled by this issue and find myself embarrased by the 'bank' that bears the name of my country. Can anybody tell me of any useful discoveries made by Huntingdon Life Sciences? It may help to salve my conscience.
Feel free to respond to this in any way that you see fit.

Who owns the bank of england

The Queen is one of the shareholders, only select people could invest in it, I believe they made the initial minimum investm ent rather high.
The bank of england is run by the private shareholders, and through the bank people are selected to interface with the government or even control it.
