Nestle Job Interivews Go Wrong!

Bristol nestle Resistance | 29.06.2001 20:19

Job Interivews held in Bristol to gather new workers for a Nestle cafe went a bit wrong as undercover activists 'applied' for job then disrupted the interview.

Undercover activists have been applying for job as a Nestle franchise plans expansion in Bristol. Managers were shoked to find the applicants knew far more about Nestle than they did, one activist remarked, "He asked if I had any questions and I did - quite a few in fact about Nestle and the killer marketing practices of Baby Milk." Another said, "They were offering £4.20 an hour - that all you get for being part of a genocidal marketing machine."

More actions are planned, so
if Nestlé's policy of pressurising the world's poorest mothers into using
unsafe baby milk formula sticks in your throat, New Era's recruitment team
would love to interview you IMMEDIATELY on 0117 908 1241. And for goodness
sake, please don't pester them on  NEWERA2000LTD@aol.com with the unpalatable
facts about Nestlé's unethical business.

"We
endeavor to abide by the World Health Organisation (WHO) Code and
any national laws or guidelines in the marketing of infant formula.
For example in developing countries we do not advertise baby milk
to mothers, our staff do not seek direct contact with mothers and
we put clear instructions for use on all our packs, including in pictorial
form."
Mrs Beverley Mirando
Senior Policy Advisor, Nestle UK

"It
is said that Nestle does not give gifts to doctors, but we did this.
It is said we did not make direct contact with mothers, but we held
baby shows in and clinics we used Cerelac samples as a way of striking
up conversations to push the milk. The Charter says Nestle does not
pay staff by incentives, but my salary revisions signed by Nestle's
Marketing Manager included incentives. Infant formula received the
most points in the scheme."

Former Nestle Pakistan employee
