Free Paul Robinson Campaign

Around 40 people demonstrated outside of the Swedish Embassy the day before Paul's indictment hearing in Götheburg (due Friday 29th June). At this hearing the Swedish Judge can decide to aquit Paul or send him for trial if the police can present enough evidence. So far they have not allowed Paul's state appointed lawyer see any of the evidence they have and have held him in isolation from his friends and family. We feel that the Swedish police are being lent on by the British Government to use Paul as an example to other anti-capitalist demonstrators. The demonstration was well attended by his work colleagues, friends and fellow UNISON members as well as representatives from all the anti-capitalist groups. He is being backed by his local UCL UNISON branch and the National NEC of UNISON have agreed to pay all his legal fees. Other branches have passed resolutions supporting him and have donated money to his campaign. The Police disgracefully had their guns on show and were provative and antagonistic throughout the demo in solidarity with their Swedish counterparts.
