Essex incinerators (whether we want them or not)

Disillusioned kid | 28.06.2001 21:08

Despite protests, petitions, manifesto promises and public demands, Essex County Council look set to ratify their new waste plan which includes provisions for the construction of up to six waste incinerators, which NOBODY WANTS!

The people of Essex have been misled, lied to, and utterly deceived. The conservatives have taken just 18 days to do a complete U-turn on one of the most important issues in the County Council election - their pledges, manifestos and promises, all broken in less than three weeks.

14000 formal respondents making some 34000 objections have been utterly ignored.

13000 petition signatures totally disregarded.

The members of the Working Together agreement tossed aside.

The people of Essex obviously are not included in the considerations of the Conservative majority at County Hall. Now they have had our vote - we count for nothing.

We will not stand by and let the get away with it.

I'm not surprised, but is it possible to give a copy of the manifesto where it says that they would not build the incinerators?
Many thanks.
