Paua New Guinea vs IMF

Riots in Papua New Guinea against IMF restructuring

Riots have broken out in Port Moresby after the government announced large scale privatisation under pressure from IMF and "World Bank". Surely this is no travelling anarchist circus but demonstrates that these lobby groups are fraudulent in their intentions and are simply salesmen and pressure groups for companies who "invest" money obviously to take out more than they put in. While perhaps providing a "cheaper" service they do so by lowering pay, laying off staff with the result that they can take money out of the local economy and take it home, leaving the country poorer

interesting to see how this was presented in the mainstream media, seen as they could not blame 'travelling anarchists'. According to the BBC 3 were left dead in a riot against privitisation, with no comment about who shot these 3 protestors and also no comment about why these market reforms are being undertaken (at the insistence of the WTO/IMF)
