Barcelona: Police have left Plaza Catalunya and demonstrators return

At 18:45 police left Plaza Catalunya and the demonstrators have returned. There is still plenty of police in nearby streets, and many inside the Corte Ingles building which is on Plaza Catalunya. At the moment there are about 3000 people standing in the early evening sunshine and there is a festive mood.
The crowd at the general assembly which was held and shot at with plastic bullets in the plaza behind the museum of contemporary art are preparing to go to Plaza Catalunya. There is no police to be seen in the narrow streets around. The protesters at the Macba will come together with a bus which will serve as a safe platform for the samba band and the sound system.
