Stock Exchange to become a Peoples Building in Barcelona this Weekend:

Summit protests are often symbollic days of action. True, we attempt to stop the powers of the capitalist system from functioning for the day, but the real goals are about organizing, showing a unified resistance, empowering ourselves, and further developing our alternative vision of the world.

It already is!

The Stock Exchange is already a people's building. Any one who owns shares, has an insurance policy, a life policy or a pension would surely agree!
Any exchange merely enables willing buyers and sellers to come together - and they are not all exploiting capitalists...

How naive are you?

How naive are you? I guess next you're going to tell me that it's "people's capitalism" or "shareowning democracy" because large institutional investment funds are made up of the pensions of "mums and dads". Get real.

"Our" funds on stock exchanges are controlled by the big capitalists, who use it and play with it like it's their own -- we don't control it, they do.

Also, BTW, stock ownership is as concentrated, or more, than wealth is in general: here in Australia, where we staged big protests on May 1 outside stock exchanges, 10% of shareholders own 90% of shares, 1% of shareholders own 60% of shares. That sounds like a "people's house", don't it?

Congrats and solidarity to all the crew in Barcelona for what you're doing. You rock!
