We are members of the Counter-Information Network "El Andamio", part of Indymedia Argentina, and we've been dismissed from Radio Universidad. The radio station of the National University of La Plata (UNLP) has a new direction staff. Like the previous one, it was nominated in an authoritarian way by university officials that turn their backs on students, teachers and the non-teaching staff. This is another sample of the kind of professionals they look for: a-critical technocrats for concealing the truth and speaking according to orders imposed by those who run the mass media (despite self-claiming independent). If we take into account the new orders imparted by the current director Radio Universidad, Gilda Pizzolante (former press secretary of Federico Storani, a government official): Forbidden to speak of pickets, worker struggles, strikes, forbidden to speak against the government, against the system, so as not to make radio that "undermines social stability". Meanwhile, the government -to which they belong- ferociously represses the workers from Argentinean Airlines, showing themselves as "tough guys" in front of the workers and menial in front of imperialism, and imprisoning and repressing the picketers and labor and popular fighters. The current director also said that she has the whole political support of F. Storani, as if Radio Universidad was a feif of the ex-minister of interior of the De la Rúa government, the same person that repressed and murdered worker demonstrators during 2000 and 2001 the . Amid all this, radio programs as our own, "El Andamio" ("The Scaffold"), were obviously censored and dismissed. This bureaucratic election system of authorities has always the same outcome: during 1998, the former directors sacked many workers. Now, with the current university dean Dibbern and Gilda Pizzolante, nearly 30 employees they were given the sack. For that reason we say: DEMOCRATIC ELECTION OF THE AUTHORITIES OF RADIO UNIVERSIDAD BY THE WHOLE STUDENTS, TEACHERS AND NON-TEACHING STAFF OF THE NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF LA PLATA. FOR STUDENT-TEACHER-NON-TEACHING STAFF CONTROL OF RADIO UNIVERSIDAD SO THAT ANYONE WHO WANTS TO BE A PROFESSIONAL AT THE SERVICE OF THE WORKING CLASS AND THE OPPRESSED, AS INDEPENDENT, CRITICAL, COMBATIVE, JOURNALISTS CAN HAVE OUR OWN MEDIA. -Counter Information Network "El Andamio", part of Indymedia Argentina (dismissed from Radio Universidad).
