THEY'RE NOT INVITED

June 7th, 1pm onwards, various locations in Manchester city centre ...

On June 7th, for one day only, there will be no government: out of this political twilight zone carnivalesque and highly visual actions will burst
onto the streets of Manchester.

All these events will highlight the decaying state of our supposedly democratic system. They will promote grassroots alternatives, and ways of living based on gift not greed.

For a hundred years people fought for the vote, now they're abandoning it in droves. With the mainstream parties placing corporate interests above ordinary citizens it's hardly surprising that people feel excluded. In the
USA, where the difference between the two parties is even less, the turnout is even lower. Is that where we're heading?

June 7th events will include:

----------------------------------------

1pm, Albert Square

THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A FREE LUNCH?

From farm to supermarket shelf, our food supply is increasingly controlled by a few powerful, unelected multinational companies. For example, the majority
of people have said 'no' to genetically modified foods yet the Government continues to promote them. To show that not every meal has to be for profit, there will be a free buffet
for all.

-------------------------------

1pm onwards, various locations across the city centre

FREE FOOD GIVEAWAYS

Vegiburgers, cake and refreshments will be distributed outside fast food chains.

PLANT GIVEAWAYS

Escape that corporate food chain - grow your own!

GUERRILLA STREET THEATRE

Public spaces are an integral part of open society but privatisation swallows these up, handing permission for their use to private interests. One-off performances across the city, ranging from al fresco buskers to Brechtian
picture poets, will reclaim public space.

-----------------------------

5pm, All Saint's Park

CRITICAL MASS

As 'public' transport collapses under its new owners the streets become more and more choked with traffic. Terrified of the oil companies, politicians do
nothing to change this, regardless of voters' demands for cleaner air and decent transport systems.
A convergence of cyclists against congestion will take matters into their own hands. Or rather, wheels.

----------------------------------

6.30pm, Sackville Park, processing to locations throughout the city centre

STATE FUNERAL

Has corporate rule killed any hope for real democracy? Mourners following the coffin in this morbid theatre will include horsemen of the eco-pocalypse, pallbearers and a 12-foot angel of death. Those not utterly overcome by emotion
will hear the 'Last Will and Testament of the British State'.

-------------------------------------

Later on ...

THE BIG NOISE
?!?
