Yes most definitely I believe we need to broaden our actions and go beyond demos this 'thing' will run out of steam unless we continually change and adapt. How many out there are happy enough to just demo and go home is there now enough to actually get a serious ball rolling.

I'm only posting this here. Do spread it around! For those who want to go to Qatar:
this may sound really strange, but it can be fun and "creative" and may also be valuable for other places that aren't as heavy as Qatar.
Go in totally incognito, but act in a kind of unison via everyday interactions. This is Chicago activist (now passed on) Saul Alynsky-style direct action, and it's hardly known about. (see his book: "Rules for Radicals" on methods) Buy a few days worth of vendors (or working with someone) working their crafts or selling food the streets, there. The idea is to utilize exisisting norms against the "normal" everyday interactions that go on even in places like Qatar. Thus, under the radar of authoritarians. And, if the authoritarians stop all normal activity, this will look even stranger to well-indoctrinated conference goers.
The idea is to interact directly with conference goers, individually, or in small groups.
Act as tourists, and speak loudly about your views in restaraunts teeming with conference goers who are taking a break. Be loud, disrespectful, as Western tourists are known to be.
Lead incognito "tourists" as a tour guide, and stop at places near conference, loudly informing the tourists (and passerby/grouped up/line-waiting conference goers) about the actuality of the conference.
So those are some ideas to get the ball rolling. Use your own creativity to do more!
