ARE WE STILL BOMBING IRAQ???????

Hugh Jones | 30.05.2001 13:39

Dies anyone know if the UK and / or USA are still bombing Iraq?

...If so, is this happening on a daily basis or what?
Where are the raids taking place?
Have any more people been hit?
Have any more sheep been hit (!) ?

There has always been complete silence about this
in the media except for when Baghdad was targetted.
Can somebody please break the silence?

How to hyperlink the URL

30.05.2001 18:07

When you fill in the form to post there is a box called "web address (begin with http://)"

If you put the url in there it will appear in the bottom of the posting like the schnews url above.

Also with articles for the newswire you can elect to upload html which gives you a lot more scope for multiple hyperlinked urls

eg:

Indymedia uk

:-?
- Homepage: web address (begin with http://)

Iraq Sanctions monitor e-mail list

There is a good website here for information about Iraq -  http://www.mariamappeal.com/

There is also an e-mail mailing list to receive news about the issues of sanctions. (Click on News and Events, then click on ISM News to register). I receive this mailing list. It makes interesting reading sometimes, but there is more information than I can read so I only read some of the issues.

From a recent issue (ISM 265) sent 24 May 2001:-

"Text of report by Iraqi TV on 23 May

In an attempt to inflict further harm on our steadfast people, the US and British ravens of evil, taking off from bases in Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and the land of Kuwait, continued their flagrant aggression against Iraq, targeting our civilian installations and services and the citizens' property.

In a statement to the Iraqi news Agency, a spokesman for the Iraqi Air Defence Command said:

At 1145 today, hostile ravens taking off from Turkey violated our airspace. With direct support from the Turkish side, the ravens conducted 20 sorties and flew over areas in Dahuk, Arbil and Ninawa governorates. An AWACS plane flying in the Turkish airspace provided support.

The enemy ravens attacked our civilian installations and services and the citizens' property. Fires started in agricultural crops in Al-Hamdaniyah area in Ninawa Governorate.

Our heroic missile force and valiant ground defences confronted the ravens and forced them to leave our airspace in disgrace to the bases of evil and aggression in Turkey.

Accordingly, the number of sorties conducted by the ravens from Turkish airspace since the Day of Conquest on 17 December 1998 rises to 6,724.

At 1340 today, the enemy ravens violated our airspace from the Saudi territory and the land of Kuwait. With direct support from the ruling regimes in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, the ravens conducted 13 sorties from Saudi Arabia and eight sorties from the land of Kuwait. The ravens, supported by an AWACS plane flying in the Saudi airspace and an E-2C flying in Kuwaiti airspace, flew over areas in Basra, Dhi Qar, Al-Muthanna, Al-Qadisiyah, Al-Najaf, Babil, Karbala and Maysan.

Our valiant missile force and heroic ground defences confronted the ravens and forced them to leave our airspace for the bases of treason and treachery in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

Accordingly, the number of sorties conducted by the ravens since the Day of Conquest on 17 December 1998 rises to 16,005 from Saudi Arabia and 9,208 from the land of Kuwait. The total number of sorties conducted by the ravens from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Turkey rises to 31,937."

We are also still starving the Iraqi people, thought there are plans going through the UN to end the current sanction system to replace it with a smarter one (it's only taken ten years and thousands of lives to get this far).

Disillusioned kid

of course we are

of course we're still bombing iraq, keep an eye on the very small news briefs in the paper, there are usually at least 3 or 4 stories every month, or look way down on the web pages where you never bother going, the stories are there. like a lot of things its not a secret, but still no one knows about it.
