Ascasos shot in the face,killed instantly.
Already when Obregon was killed during the attack on the central
telephone exchange,durruttis anger had burst out and had pushed
him forward to the very doors of the exchange.Now his fury was
unleashed.Without looking at anyone,he left for the barracks.
The other fighters,fascinated,followed him.
The soldiers terrified by this tidal wave surging toward them hastened
to raise the white flag
At 1 o clock on july 20,33 hours into the struggle,free barcelona
was born and finally joy could blaze out.
Ascaso was one of 3000 that fell.
