What is going on in Oldham?

Hey ya'll,

What is going on in Oldham? What triggered the violence? Is this similar to what happened in Cincinati a month ago?

Curious in Canada

Racist cops in Britain.

No one was asasinated as in Cinci but it was the cops that set it off.

A 76 year old white guy was attacked a while back, allegedly by young asians. The mans family claim that it was NOT a racialy motivated attack but the cops are insisting on treating it as such.

The press are having a field day with race hate propaganda and some comments by senior cops are similar in tone to the Cinci fascists.

Cops have stopped anti-fascists marching but not neo-nazis.

Looks like asian youth have had enough, respect.

Canada, know this...race, law and order and immigration are election issues, so they had to instigate a situation that would fit the bill. The NF provoked the Asian community to retalliate, so they did. Asian youth showed UK residents how to defend themselves against, rascism and police brutality, molotov cocktails and all!!

The Powers that Be, have been driving a wedge between races for centuries, because it suits their imperialist rascist agenda, they want a race war, as badly as we want peace, but the new generation UK, is multi-cultural and loving it and respecting it, so soon the NWO won't have no takers for their agenda. Black and white are united, in fighting THEM!

Riots in Oldham

28.05.2001 15:48

I would like to comment what I saw on the TV this weekend in Oldham. As a resident of Québec City, Canada I unfortunately saw and heard of all the brutality the police used here during the Summit of the Americas last april. I would like to know if the police in Oldham have used tears gas and rubber bullets against the rioters ? Of what I saw on television they seemed to be quite disorganized and poorly equipped in comparison to our Canadian GI Joes !!! I feel that what we lived here in Québec in terms of police and State repression was just incredibly brutal and worthy of the worst police States !!!

Oddly enough Canada, while they were preparing to use rubber bullets on the peaceful May Day protest, they refrained from using them when repelled by petrol bombs in Oldham. Tear gas and water cannon are unprecedented in Britain but rubber bullets may have been deployed against blacks in Brixton in the 80's resisting police brutality. So what's changed?

Oldham

There is a monthly Manchester alternative news-sheet called 'The Loombreaker'.

It reported on Oldham, which I've pasted below, though this was written & published
before the last two NF rallies of the last two Saturdays, and the riots. Next month's will
info on the most recent events.

Boneheads (Somehow) Organise a Piss-Up

Recently the National Front have been playing cat and mouse with groups who oppose
them. Initially the fascists had led people to believe that they intended to march on the
7th of April. Some 300 people met outside the Civic Centre to let the fascists know in no
uncertain terms that they were not welcome on the streets of Oldham or any other town.
The National Front managed their usual turn out of two or three ‘supporters’ peeping
through the curtains of a nearby pub.

A month later the National Front used an attack on a pensioner as their excuse to march.
After complaints by the Chief of police and local councillors Jack Boots Straw (defender
of democracy) banned all political marches for three months.

Regardless of this the National Front said that they would, firstly, be at Oldham to attack
their opposition as they arrived, and also, that they would march past the Civic Centre at
3:30. They did neither. Instead goons from Combat 18 huddled together in groups over
two miles from the Civic Centre as their opposition, numbering at least 300, waited for
them. The Glorious National Front stayed peeping round the curtains in the nearby pub!

People from Manchester and Bolton managed to spend some time with 300 plus
members of the local community who were out on the streets — their main concern is
that this is just the beginning, as Nick Griffin (the National Front’s chief Knuckle dragger),
has announced that he will be standing in Oldham West in the general election. They are
also standing in Burnley, so that’s a quarter of their membership accounted for.

With the election yawn under way the NF have organised two more rallies. On the 19th
May the ‘rally’ of seven NF consisted in a booze-up in a couple of pubs in Oldham City
Centre. A counter demonstration took place not too far away. On the 26th May they will
be trying to stir it up again. People should be wary. Although the NF are a piss poor
organisation with nothing constructive to offer, their agenda is not far removed from that
of the really existing fascism that characterises state and corporate power.

oldham police brutality against minorities

03.12.2003 14:50

i am a white person who has seen and recieved at first
hand the excessive force that oldham police use as compared to other forces in the uk.

im sure the majority of police in oldham are ok, but their are a few sadisitic officers
who like to inflict pain. and not just against the asian minorities.

two officers pulled a van beside me, got out, pinned me against a wall, dragged me to the rear of a van and started to inflict intense pain on my arms, wrist and thums,
i was told to move out of oldham previously by this officer.
this went on for over two minutes, they had no legal right to do this, and it makes me worried to enter the oldham area, due to police behavoir, i can only think they chuck all
the rotten apples in the uk force in to the oldham area, i have the officer number, and am considering making a official complaint, if i feel it is safe enough to do.

the officer was blatant about and enjoyed what he did, and should not be in the force.
