MEDIA SCUM!

07.05.2001 13:51

The BBC reporting teams were briefed to go looking for trouble and confrontation as detailed by internal memo leaked to Guardian newspaper:

"According to a leaked document sent to the Guardian, the BBC will taking to the air with a helicopter, will have hundreds of people on the ground and will be specifically looking out for violence, disorder and confrontations. They have taken over offices in Oxford Street and the City, and their correspondents have all been trained to handle riot situations."

thanks to guardian for highlighting this - ok the guardian and abserver did run a load of the shite peddled by the P0l1c£, but they did at least cover the general media bollocks written by the press in general and gave some pretty good accounts during the day and have done a lot in the aftermath to report the truth

having said that the corporate media have shown their true colours so well over mayday - they're SCUM - end of story

me thinks it's only a matter of time before people start protesting against the media conglomerates themselves

Its an idea that really works for information spreading, since you can talk to people face-to-face about what *you* think, and what *you* want. It just needs a cardboard box as a newsstand, plenty of bumf and info, and the ability not to mind when people cross the street to avoid you.

If i wasn't living in the sticks, i would try one myself, but my hypocrisy aside, its a great idea and think maybe it should be a regular occurance in the big cities. I love the idea that next mayday there could be 5, 10 or 20 of them across london, spreading info and letting people have some first hand experience of 'international anarchists intent on damaging property and injuring people' like me and you.

Would be nice to see some beforehand too, to debunk the press hysteria that will inevitably come.
