No, police were not ordered to guard the BBC from violent anarchists... They were in fact getting ready to surround peaceful protesters. The ITV camera team in the back repeatedly told them where to move and which position to take -- in order to get the right camera shots.

Posed to thrill, dressed to kill, sporting that new accessory, a strange metal cane, (not a baton) they were whiping innocent people with.

What do you people expect? I absolutely uphold peoples right to protest, the more often the better. But if you go out to smash up a city center, do you really think your going to get away with it? I'm sorry but the police did the right thing. Just because you think you are right does not make it right. If you really don't believe me go and see the former soviet Union. I can tell you its bad out there.

I'm sure you are aware that hardly any of us
wanted to 'smash up the city'.
And I don't think anyone was going to beat up
the bbc, I'm sure we'd have got fantastically good
publicity for doing that.

At one point I saw one person throw a can of beer
at the police and everyone around him shamed him
by pointing to who he was and shouting cries
of "Let's keep it PEACEFUL".
