no they haven't

I just got to it through aol, so unless they changed their minds, the most likely explanation is that www.maydaymonopoly.net kept crashing through too many hits. I suspect the same goes for the BBC travelcams. Or am I just naive?

Oxford Street webcams

01.05.2001 20:45

As far as the censored webcams at Oxford Street go... Presumably, the one run (and still running!) by Fuji is not under the contol of the Met police.

 http://www.fujiint.co.uk/street/index.html

Whereas those at  http://www.bbc.co.uk/londonlive/travelandweather/cctv/camdir040247.html most probably are.

Perhaps, also worth noting that Oxford Street has the highest number of CCTV cameras in the whole of the UK (which in turn has more CCTV cameras for its population than the rest of the world).

Trafalgar Square on  http://www.camvista.com/ looks very desolate at the moment!

still not working at 2.40am ...

02.05.2001 01:30

Perhaps you are just being naive - otherwise those BBC / Police webcams would be working by now at 2.30 am, wouldn't they... also funny that only the webcams covering any part of Oxford Street are turned off and the display instead reads "image unavailable", or perpaps not.

A list of all those BBC / Met cameras is at
 http://www.bbc.co.uk/londonlive/travelandweather/camlist.shtml
