May 1st in London, Liverpool Street

At 7:25, there are a few here already. Some are being interviewed by what appears to be the mainstream media, and of course there is a substantial police presence. Probably more police than protestors at this stage. A man from Hackney turns up and unfurls his banner which is advertising another protest in a few days' time. He had some problems erecting his banner on his own, so I gave him a hand until his colleague arrived. You might see a picture of me helping him hold the banner in front of McDonalds. By 8:15 there are a few hundred people [P000630.jpg]. Suddenly, they cycle off to the west, and the south-west Liverpool Street exit returns to normal.
