Convergence Centre

Convergence 57 had a quiet night last night although we had 4 vehicles of special branch keeping us company, unlike last night we kept them awake. Convergence 57 is beautifully decorated now, with various rooms with the chill room and enough food to feed everybody bot not hot. There is an angry room. I am looking at a leaflet at the moment called the angry colours of capitalism. Activists spent the night talking about politics and the struggle long into the night. There is a strange sense of calm here, but we are all bracing ourselves for what is to come.

We are open 24hrs a day and free speech is welcome, but no corporate media, we are not making any comment about the demonstration itself. Finally we regard ourselves as pro democracy activists and not as violent anti capitalists as the corporate media . Spirits were raised after reading the readers letters column in the guardian. We are expecting a party here tonight and there will be a samba band.

Special Branch
30.04.2001 23:45
A few days later, my tutor came to see me to talk about 'further developments'. 'Special branch' wanted to talk to me and he asked if they had my consent to ring me up. A few minutes later, I got a call from the local CID asking me if it was true that I was organising a group of anarchists to 'storm buckingham palace with machetes'. Well, this was the first I'd heard about such a plan, although it was reminiscent of the general tone of accusations flying around in the media. The bloke on the phone was quite friendly and said that the accusastion was probably a complete lie but that they were obliged to follow it up.
It turns out that some bloke, calling himself a journalist, had phoned up my university and also got in touch with the police / special branch and had been making accusations left right and centre about members of the email list.
Someone had written to me saying it was probably a 'journalist' calling himself 'Gomeche'. I asked the police if my accuser was called 'Gomeche' and they said yeah he was.
Well, that's it.
Has anyone else been investigated by Special Branch?
Is anyone else a victim of Gomeche?

loser on a little bit of a power trip but I'm sure he can't help it - it was probably just his upbringing or something.
If anyone comes across this guy on the internet then just um.. don't bother talking to him.
Peace,
Hugh, Cambridge.
