tianamen square

28.04.2001 20:53

Tianamen square was a reaction to the corruption of the few that hold might and power in China. Democracy, in its way, has passed control and power to the people. Capitalism is a corruption of society as a whole. It is the same issue, just in different contexts.

If the government/police will not let the people combat this corruption through information (the most effective AND peacefull route), then what do they leave but confrontation??? People, be carefull. Don't let them turn Mayday into a showcase of eco-terrorism. If you see agent-provocateurs don't join in. Shop 'em.

What would be completly amusing, of course, is if the police turn up tooled up in riot gear, and nothing happens. Of course people and protestors are there, but are blowing kisses and giving roses to the passing observers. The chances of that happening are probably small, but to see the Police's Zero Tolerance policy fall on it's belly would be excellent. If any police action takes place, police brutality could be citied.

brutal truth

29.04.2001 14:05

Of course, you know they'll just say that the 'peace' was due to their policy. They'll just use an even bigger deathstar the next year. Given the excellent timing of the NCS drugsbust - result : people who've never seen the less than nice side of the cops are raising a few suspicious eyebrows - a bit of police brutality might even be a good thing.
