The 8% + Solution

If the election ever takes place, here's what I think we should do. I know you cant wait to hear my opinion, after all its the one that counts...

OK, serious now. Blair has got away with his banal non-ideological posings for so long (third way, national moral purpose etc) precisely because he has such a massive overall majority. He doesnt need to abolish democracy, or indeed, develop a distinctive ideology, for he has a very lazy, sheeplike party to command, which is being led willingly to the slaughter. They will obey, with some marginal token grumblings. If Labourites STILL support that party, they must be either cynics or lunatics. Maybe both.
Whilst the Vote Nobody campaign makes a good point, it means people must ACTIVELY Vote Nobody, not just sit at home and fight from their armchairs. The other main suggestion has been to vote for a leftwing maverick type, Socialist Alliance, Raving Loony etc.
But I favour the alternative idea of the old tactical vote, which means voting for the mainstream canididate most likely to oust the problem party (Labour in this case) in the key marginals. Unfortunately, this means we need something like an EIGHT PERCENT swing away from Labour, for the combined parliamentary opposition needs more than a gain of ONE HUNDRED SEATS to neutralise Blair.
Therefore, to determine your tactics, check to see if you live in a key marginal: Winchester, for example, is vital, for its only held by TWO votes ! It could fall either way !
Producing a Hung Parliament will NOT solve much, but it will buy us some more time. We shuld aim for it, because frankly, we need it.
