I would just like to add, there are a number of online forums discussing foot and mouth, and anyone unable to reach any protests can email their objections to these. Beware that these may be edited, but the more you send, the more likely it is that people's opinions will sway towards common sense. Please keep messages coherant and sane, or else we risk being labelled 'the lunatic fringe' as I heard one person put it.
