Nuclear train travelling from France to Germany forced to retreat

The train carrying nuclear waste from France to Germany has been forced to retreat after protesters brazed freezing conditions and chained themselves to the train track.
Despite a costly operation involving 30,000 German police and armed forces personnel the protesters were able to reach the line where they chained themselves to the track.
It is not clear what will now happen to the train or its cargo.
