300 IndonesianAmericans Protest inAtlanta1998

12.03.2001 16:16

Somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 people - organized by Chinese of Indonesian Heritage carried banners, signs and listened closely to important speakers in Olympic Park located on the North side of Cable News Networks World Headquarters.

CNN did not cover the assembly--only WXIA Channel 11 of Atlanta did.

The people assembled the rally soon after the several weeks of organized rioting in Jakarta that killed many Chinese Indonesians a minority group that often has been targeted for mass genocide by dictators, or received terribly repressive laws. This 1998 chaos included many rapes and burnings of stores.
