Discrimination is alive and well in England

Faith Charity | 07.03.2001 03:44

Women will NEVER be treated equally while ever British laws promote discrimination.

Please read this letter I sent to Amnesty International.
Then ask yourself will men and women ever be treated equally.
Dear Amnesty International

I am appaulled at being treated like a second class citizen by the British Government.

I have been informed that my adult children are not eligible for a passort.
The reason given I am ONLY a mother and as a female I do not count.
If my husband had been British the children would have been given a passport automatically.

If the rules said both parents must be British I would say fine.
If the rules said both parents must be living in the UK I would say fine.

What they said was that my hertiage does not count.

I was born in England as were both my parents and grandparents and their parents.

How is it that a human being can not count?

I have received a letter stating that the government recognised this discrimination and has ammended the rule to include children born after 31-12-1983. This does not help me.

This means that my children are discriminated against on the grounds of their age.

I was futher informed that this is a British law and therefore can not be changed.
I do not accept that.
If a law is clearly discriminatory surely it MUST be changed.

Please assist all women to be recognised as human beings by insisting that the British Government does also.
Many thanks
Faith Charity
