UPDATE: Anti-Colombia War
Oliver | 02.03.2001 04:14
Greetings from Australia.....
Dear Friends,
I am pleased to announce that progress has been made in attempting to establish a support base for a possibility to organize an Anti-Colombia War movement, probably linked to a campaign surrounding Heroin Reform in Australia.
If the Left will ever unite, it must now. Drugs is not an isolated issue, it is an international one effecting every advanced industrialized society and contributing to the further social decay and alternative stage to barbarism where the U.S. takes the lead.
For those who are interested in getting involved in the U.K. or would like to know more contact:
inter@dircon.co.uk
They are good and genuine people. Everyone else I've tried to contact haven't even bothered to reply to my emails. I mean everyone.
The Colombia War is, perhaps, the most important struggle at this point in time due to its ideological implications, threatening U.S. control of the hemisphere.
When the beast is down we don't ignore it, we stick it in!
As we should of during the Contra Wars in Nicaragua, and the war in El Salvador.
WE MUST NOT WAIT FOR A DIRECT U.S. MILITARY INTERVENTION IN COLOMBIA!
THE MEDIA MIGHT IGNORE IT! WE DON'T HAVE TO!
Latin America will one day cease to be a U.S. backyard....
In solidarity,
Oliver.

The Left must unite!

I agree 100% with what you say. The U.S. is carrying a war of genocide against indigenous people in Colombia and throughout the world. It is a sad commentary that my fellow Americans are oblivious to what is really going on in South America. The corporate-controlled American media, together with Rupert Murdoch's Fox News, are bombarding the public with endless rightwing newstories--all intended to distract the public from George Bush's fascist agenda.
The Left must unite and work in coalition with others to oppose the full-scale war on human rights that the fascists are waging.

Thankyou all for your encouraging support. Today I attended a meeting with the Youth Section of the Communist Party of Australia, and they have taken the present war in Colombia very seriously, and have begun an effort to get the Anti-Colombia war movement started.
If you would like to write to them to show your support that would be great. And if your affiliated organization or party would like to know more please feel free to contact them also.

I am still yet to meet with the Australian branch of the Committee for a Workers International, which also have a branch in the U.K. the one which I referred to in my posting above.
I was reading this interview the other day by Noam Chomsky, and you'll be suprised how long it took to get the Anti-Vietnam war movement going and how many people, himself, and others started off with before the movement took hold.
And now with the present global anti-capitalist movement spreading like a wildfire, this spells opportunity for patriots of the world.
In solidarity,
Oliver.
