Dogmeat Diners Want St Bernards As Delicacy

Jason Corcoran | 07.02.2001 06:50

A leading breeder of St Bernards was offered £1,000 per
puppy by three Vietnamese men at Cruft's who wanted
them on the menu at their gourmet restaurant.

What's your point

What is the point of this story? There is a much larger Vietnamese population in Melbourne where I live than anywhere in the UK and there has been occasional bouts of hysteria about the fact that Vietnamese people have a tradition of eating dogs. There was a case where some Vietnamese people were caught cooking a dog that they'd raised for the purpose and their trial was picketed by a disturbing alliance of so-called animal rights activists and Nazis.
So forgive me if I get suspicious about people's motives when they post stories like this.

Yes, what IS your point?

I think the story yo have highlighted is disturbing - that people want to eat puppies but then is eating cute little calves any worse?

Also, why do you find it necessary to tell us that the three men were Vietnamese - I would say that that was irrelevant if your point is to highlight the suffering of animals.

Mmmmmmmmm?
