THE TUBE STRIKE IS ON!!!

noel | 02.02.2001 11:54

The RMT are calling on all trade unionists and community groups to join them on their picket lines.

LETS TURN THE STRIKE INTO A CARNIVAL AGAINST TUBE PRIVATISATION!!!

THE TUBE STRIKE IS ON!

"Over 90 percent of RMT members voted democratically for a strike an unelected judge is trying to stop he and London Underground can get stuffed I will be on the picket lines and we hope to see everyone else there."

These were the words of John Leach the RMT Executive Committee member for the tube said at the Hackney Fightback meeting on Thursday night.

Despite the High Court injunction the lay officials of the RMT are urging their members to respect picket lines and ASLEF are still going ahead with their strike on Monday. ASLEF have set up a one day membership card for the day of the strike (This is not about poaching members this is to make sure the strike is BIG!).
The RMT are calling on all trade unionists and community groups to join them on their picket lines.

The judge's decision has only heightened political tensions. The strike will be seen as one against tube privatisation and it will be a hugely popular strike both amongst workers and the public. But it will also raise a number of other questions like the law, New Labour and democracy.
