Max Caller's statement

"It is predictable that during a strike focus will be placedon the most senior manager and in this case it's me.

For the record, I have rarely been able to take all my holiday entitlements both in this current job and in my previos post. Similary I wish I could work the hours that I am contracted for but I regulary work 3 times my alloted hours and I normally put in 90 hours weeks.

I started work in local government in 1972. This job is certainly the most challenging and for that reason it is most unrealistic for me not to work the hours I give. But the strike is not about me. I am one person in an
organisation. It is about all of the workforce. I don't expect everyone to work all the hours or for staff not to be able to take theirleave. What I want is for Hackney to have a fair system for all staff, from manual to office
workers, that provides adequate leave and pay. To focus only on what I do is not only misleading and decisive, it actually reveals more about the total commitments that a managing director must give."
