City Stockbroker "Nazi" Scandal

taken from Evening Standard, London | 30.01.2001 16:24

Capitalism must be abolished, not merely for ideological or even economic reasons, but just for the sake of sanity and decency...

Sometimes stories come out at you from the inside pages of nothing-special newspapers, which transgress even the low standards we have come to expect in the modern world.

"A Jewish city broker whose grandmother was murdered at Aushwitz was told to wear a Nazi uniform for being late... Laurent Weinburger was called "Yiddo" and "Jewboy" by colleagues... he resigned two weeks later and claims it followed an attempt to demote him after six years with the firm. The New Broad Street Company, chief executive Philip Gregory : We do not believe this... behaviour ammounted to racial discrimination" he commented.
