Davos: Independent Media Targeted, Harassed by Police

Free speech is the latest casualty in the Swiss government's crackdown on the constitutional right to public dissent and free assembly as the police make it forcefully clear that public scrutiny of their ongoing repressive activities will not be allowed. This was the lesson violently expressed to 8 journalists on Wednesday.
"On Wednesday afternoon, a van with 7 Indymedia journalists and 1 Geneva-based commercial newspaper journalist inside was stopped, detained, and searched several times by a gang of police wearing maskes before and after they were blocked from traveling to Davos. Additionally, equipment and materials inside the van were ransacked, individuals were body-searched and interrogated, and a press pass was confiscated."
