Some thoughts about IMC.

We should change the title of this website from (IMC) Independent Media Center to (AMC) Anarchist Media Center.

Hi,

After some serious thought, I think it is fair for those who are not Anarchists or are not familiar with Anarchism, but do want to get involved in activism, that we do the right thing and push to change the title of this website from IMC to AMC.

Being a long time Anarchist and reader of this medium, I think we end up fighting with people who are not Anarchists over anything, instead of organising to fight the capitalist system. Which was the original purpose of this website.

I think it is deceitful and dishonest that we persist calling this an "Independent Media Center" when really it is dominated by us, and when someone disagrees with us we blast them. I do not think it is right.

What do you guys think we should do?

OK. we got the message

This posting is obviously a skit aimed at the IMCuk collective and is a misuse of the newswire - therefore i am hiding this post.

By way of explaination: We have been very patient with the postings ranting about the way we administer the newswire and listened carefuly when the comments are productive, and even incorporated them into our new editorial guidelines. Previous postings agains us have been left and even encouraged in the debating area of the site, but this is obvoiusly not enough for some. There are a few anonymous people posting, who are continuously using the newswire to have a personal go at us as a collective after we have openly stated our position, and explained the reasons behind our actions. Most of the time i would argue that this is fine, and part of the workload, and often justified, but it is now getting boring.

The maintaining of this newswire takes alot of time and energy, and we want to concentrate on that without these silly distractions - so simular postings will also be removed.

As a reminder: The Newswire is a place for you to send your reports from the streets of actions and events in the UK. We do leave other postings up that are informational or relevant, (see out adminitration list - linked from the editorial guidelines to see what we hide and when) but do reserve the need to remove posts where we see fit. This does not refer to our political ideas (as a collective we cross a range of views) but to keep the site relevant and interesting.

In solidarity
Tony (IMC UK collective)
