What they are doing is, essentially, attempting to use a loophole in the Telecoms Act to establish a wireless broadband network around the country, which can be accessed directly by people, without the need for a middleman in the form of ISPs like AOL or Freeserve.

This would seem to hold excellent potential for independent media and struggle.
