February the 26th has been earmarked for the arrival of the capitalist heavyweights as the IMF and WTO are descending on London for the United Nation Childrens Conference. Also included on the list are UNICEF, United Nations Development Programme, Governments from 'developed' and 'developing' countries, Business communities & 'Civil society'.

What will mainly be up for discussion according to the Dept of International Development, is child poverty. The aims set out by Gordon Brown recently were to halve child poverty by 2015. To secure primary education for all children and cut infant mortality by two-thirds.

Despite a report on the conference appearing in the 'Independent' newspaper on the 27th Dec 2000. The press office at the HM Treasury said "they don't have any details on it yet." Charlene Robinson the conference manager at Lancaster House where the conference is to be held said "Their is a conference on that day, but that project hasn't been given a title yet which is a little odd."
