Faslane peace camper in Prague jail

Heather | 13.10.2000 01:44 | Prague/IMF/WB | World

Anthony Hannigan, known us as Teapot from Faslane Peace Camp, is still being held in the Czech Republic after being arrested on his way back from the protests against the IMF. He was on a bus filled with people from Scotland which made a stop just short of the Czech border.

There was some kind of incident at the MacDonalds nearby and the police were called. When they tried to take the passports of everyone on the bus Teapot was one of those who tried to challenge this. He was jumped on and arrested and driven away. After attempts to get him released failed the bus returned to Scotland.

INPEG legal support are doing what they can for him and the other 28 foreign nationals in jail still. They were going to pay the £600 bail to get him out, but now more charges have been added and the bail increased to £2000.

He could be kept in jail for several months awaiting trial. Please write to him, at:
