Greenpeace Occupy Power Generator

Schwarzschild | 10.10.2000 15:50

Greenpeace are at this moment protesting in north London at the site of an incinerator power plant.

The plant in question is a landfill household waste incinerator, of which several are already operating throughout London and the rest of Britain. Vaunted as a solution to the problem of increasing volumes of waste, there are concerns that the pollutants generated by combustion are highly carcinogenic. This particular example is sited in Edmonton, and has been out of action for two days now. Two protesters are camped on the chimney stack, and seem to be as well prepared as mountaineers for a stay of about a week.

I am not a member of Greenpeace, and I am only able to relay reports that have featured on local Tv and radio broadcasts. as far as i know, this action has not beeen given any national coverage, but unless Greenpeace file their own report, i hope this will give a little information to everyone.
