Legal observers have reportedly entered into negotiations with the police to stop unlawful identy checks throughout Prague, according to Pavel from Obèanske Právní Hlídky (OPH). Pavel was called from the checkpoint established outside the IndyMedia Center Office on Legerova. Moments ago he called back to inform me of the negotiations. He also confirmed what I had heard through the grapevine: Police are illegally checking passports throughout the city. Hopefully the negotiations will end this activity. Media activists from the IMC have recorded badge numbers of police at the checkpoint, to use later on if the negotiations are unsuccesful.
