José Bové, one of the leaders of the Confédération Paysanne, an organisation of French farmers, has been convicted to three months in prison for destroying a McDonalds in Millau in August '99. The Confédération Paysanne, an organisation of French farmers, has been very active in the movement against corporate-led globalisation. José Bové and others from the Confédération Paysanne were quite visible in Seattle.

With this sentence, the judges have exceeded the demand of the State Prosecution who had asked for a sentence of one month. José Bové immediately announced that he would launch an appeal.
