A weekend of activity against Rolls Royce in Derby started on Saturday, with a stall and protesters handing out leaflets to the general public with a surprisingly good reception from the Derby public.

On Saturday 15th October the Magical Mystery Tour took place in Sheffield. See the Clip of the Tour.

BBC list Nottinghamshire Indymedia as a news source in Notts

A bunch of people and Ronald McD himself, turned out to protest against McDonalds in Nottingham. They bought banners, handed out leaflets, and informed the passin' public about the issues: nutrition [lack of it], environmental issues, fast food litter, their business practices and not least, workers rights ......

Here a request for photos of the Geishas that were part of the protests at the G8 summit. The Make Poverty History march, the Faslane blockade or the first day of the summit in and around Stirling were some of the things in which the 'Geishas of Gaiety' were 'mingling in the masses'. Also other actions in Nottingham, Sheffield and Derby had Geishas, any photos of that would be great.

Saturday 15th October saw ASBO squatted community centre on Burns St open its doors for the first time. The day was really successful with 50-60 people from the local community and across Nottingham stopping by.

The free shop in the front garden drew lots of curious people off the street, and some were flumoxed that they were not being asked to pay anything. People brought goods along, and picked up some really useful stuff – including a record player and an electric guitar!

Inside, “Broad Bean” internet was busy all afternoon with local children making the most of the facilities. We may be looking to put more computers downstairs to cope with the demand. The 'Kranks' bike workshop was a real hit, lots of people came along with their bikes and everyone helped each other fix them – a really excellent skill share session. Even a double-buggy that a local family brought in got fixed up. Ideas for future projects include bike trailers, tricycles and even bicycle-powered washing machines.

The day ended with a hearty meal from the People's Kitchen which had been filling the centre with mouth watering smells all afternoon. Everyone tucked in, and enjoyed chatting to their neighbours.

We were really pleased at the diversity of people who came to use the ASBO and hope that this day was just a start for a really exciting new project. To celebrate the Big Draw we hosted FREE drop in workshops in the gallery on Saturday 15th October. Inspired by the exhibitions (dis)comfort and Knitwork, the workshops will give you the opportunity to create drawings using thread, wool and material. Suitable for all ages, children must be accompanied by an adult.

Join artists 'Beat 13' to take over the Old Market Square with huge cartoon drawings with Nottingham themes. From Robin Hood & Nottingham Castle to Goose Fair and the Council House Lions, your drawings will animate the heart of the city centre - before it's redevelopment begins. Everybody welcome to come and draw!

The 'Solidarity Sisters' are a new project of the group that mobilsed the Geishas of Gaiety at the G8 summit. Some photos from the Magical Mystery Tour - a tourist jaunt through the city centre of Sheffield, taking in various places and buildings where magical mystery policies of exclusion are implemented through state agents or private cooperations.

Jackeline Rojas, organiser for Colombian women's rights organisation, Femenina Popular, is speaking in Nottingham on Monday, 24 October at the Sumac Centre. She'll be joined by Andy Higginbottom, national secretary of the Colombia Solidarity Campaign.
