We are delighted to welcome representatives from the Rossport Solidarity Camp to Bristol, on Sunday 12th November.
For those of you unaware of the campaign, this will be a chance to gain more information on a group that is successfully standing up to a major multinational, thanks to the solidarity of a committed group of activists, the majority of which are members of the local community.
Here’s a few websites with further information:
Shell to Sea Campaign - www.corribso.com
The Rossport Solidarity Camp website - www.struggle.ws/rsc
For those of you involved in local campaigns in Bristol, this will be an excellent opportunity to get ideas on how ‘outsiders’ can work with a local community without alienating them, whilst remaining committed to your own principles. The speakers will be happy to discuss any aspect of the campaign.
Lastly, the campaign needs your support as at the moment it is facing incredible pressure from both Shell and it’s corporate partners (including the money-grubbing Irish government) and is under daily attack.
For more information on the developments in the campaign check out the Irish Indymedia site http://indymedia.ie/mayo . Those involved in other campaigns will recognise the media smear tactics currently being tried by the establishment, attempting to reduce the high level of public support for the campaigners in Ireland.
The presentation will start at 7.30pm, arrive early to get fed a lovely vegan meal for only £2 from the Kebele café!
