and STREET PARTY
So many people have contributed
to the success of the Save Dale Farm
Campaign, we'd like to thank you
by inviting you all to our Street Party.
Special thanks to Joe and Bridie, of
Gypsy & Traveller Affairs and the Irish
Traveller Movement 2006; to Catherine
Beard, of the UK Association of Gypsy
Women, and Cliff Condona, National
Travellers Action Group, who through
the UK Gypsy, Traveller and Roma
Forum, have both helped make known
our case at Strasbourg and wider afield.
Thanks to the Human Rights Monitoring
groups, formed by Jewish and Panjabi
friends and members of the Peace &
Progress Party, led by Corin Readgrave;
and by local supporters in Basildon,
including our Parish Priest Father John
Glynn.
The Street Party* will take place
1 August on Camilla Drive, Dale Farm,
after the rally outside the Basildon Centre,
St Martin's Square (11 am), and the first day
of the Public Enquiry for our 40 planning
appeals (another ten were heard late last
year).
We want your support to make
a final appeal to Malcolm Buckley
to drop his £3 million plan to destroy
our 86 homes and drive us out onto
the road with nowhere to live.
This decision has been branded as
"racially tainted" by Basildon Labour
Party, and has brought the Commission
for Racial Equality onto our side for
the Judicial Review now scheduled
to start on 13 November.
During the rally we'll be handing in
a Petition with the names of 2,000 people
from around the world, and holding a
short commemoration in memory of
those murdered by the Nazis at the
Auschwitz Gypsy Camp on
2 August 1944.
Please note the threat to Dale Farm is
not over yet. Buckley says he'll continue with the
"clearance" of 120 unauthorised caravans
as soon as the council's legally permitted
to do so. Several yards at nearby
Hovefield's Drive have already been
ploughed up and homes removed.
We have been encouraged by the
Hovefields Drive Judicial Review ruling
and the four years' temporary planning
permission granted to yards at Gipsy Hill.
Our worry is that when the temporary
12 month extensions given earlier to ten yards
at Dale Farm expire in December, Buckley's
bulldozers could be sent back in action.
We hope therefore you can join us
on the 1 August.

had to withdraw his offer to play at the Street party due
to lack of facilities, and opposition by Crays Hill
residents.
